SEO & Online Marketing Meetings

With the demise of ThreadWatch and the move away from public forums to personal blogs and private forums, there is a need for a place where SEOers and online marketing people can find out who is meeting where, when and the nature of that event, ie big paid-for conferences or smaller, more personal "unofficial" meets.

SeoCircuit was created to meet this need.

So, whether you are looking to organise a meeting for 100 like-minded individuals over a few pints, or whether you are at a loose-end after a business trip and just want to avoid sitting in a strange hotel in a strange city - this forum welcomes your post.

If you wish to organise a "fringe" meeting as an extra to your attending a large conference - this is the place to post.

Default SEO Circuit - what's it for?

SEO Circuit - what's it for?

Ever been at a party or social event and been asked what you for a living?
Ever seen the questioner's eyes glaze over as you started to explain?

Yeah, us too.

Far more enjoyable to chat with people who 'get it', right?

Of course, you can meet people from our industry at the large formal SEO conferences.
They have their place, but are often expensive and involve too much listening to corporate spin and not enough real conversation.

The original Pub Conference, way back in 2001, was a free informal gathering in a London Pub that showed us how it should be done.

Many of us enjoy working in this field precisely because it allows us to avoid the corporate bullshit. Consequently, the ideal social event is a free meeting with like-minded individuals, no suits, no nasty corporate doublespeak and no powerpoint presentations. In short, all the best bits of the larger formal conferences without the pain.

We also believe that 'smaller works better'. Large conferences often turn into a blur of faces, handshakes and introductions - great for collecting business cards, not so good for establishing trust and bulding friendships.

Ever since the original Pub Conference, there have been a series of smaller meetings organised in the spirit of the original Pub Conference. Some of you will have attended SEO Roadshow and the meetings organised through the Syndk8 forum and, the now dormant, Threadwatch.

The truth is, these were just the tip of the iceberg - there have been many smaller meetings organised through a network of private forums and 'buddy networks'.

SEO Circuit has been set up to make the organising of these meetings a little easier and a more inclusive of those 'outside the loop'.

So how does it work?

Well that's kind of up to you - this forum is intended to be 'community led' as much as possible.

Here is what we are going to use it for ourselves:

* To organise DIY free meetings anywhere in the world.
* To organise fringe meetings around the formal conferences.
* To post things like 'I'm in Prague on Wed 3rd July - anyone fancy a pint and a chat'

The forum is organised as one main 'Event Details' forum and a number of 'Discussion Forums'

The discussion forums work like any normal forum, but posting details in the 'Events Details' forum will automatically add the event to the calendar. It will also enable to the RSVP feature to allow other members to confirm attendance (or not) with a click.

We also have an integrated 'GoogleMap' which shows the location of forum members (who have opted to allow it).

What happens beyond that is up to you guys.
